Echud Olmert: The Leaning Tower of Jell-O

Cross Posted from Yid with Lid

Sometimes it seems that Israel's UN ambassador Dan Gillerman is the only one in the government who owns a backbone. He is constantly out front defending Israel, with his usual form of bluntness and logic. In fact if the tower of Jell-O also known as the PM, Mr. Olmert, had shown the same resolve as Gillerman maybe Israel would be in a much better situation than it is now. Who knows what would have happened this summer in if Olmert had listened to his generals and allowed them to WIN the war. What would happen if the ineffectual PM listened to his generals about GAZA?

Now Mr. Cellophane is trying to reign in Dan Gillerman. During Friday's debate on the one sided UN General Assembly proclamation against Israel, Gillerman faced down France, one of the countries behind the bill

"If France was shelled from across the border, what would the French do? Would the French government send flowers to their attackers? Well, by voting for this resolution you will be sending flowers to the terrorists, flowers which tomorrow will be laid on the grave of the next Israeli victim."

Gillerman was also quoted as saying over the weekend that the French were "more active in furthering the passing of the resolution than the Qataris, who initially presented the resolution."

He also reportedly blamed the French for convincing EU countries like Germany and Poland, who wanted to abstain, to vote for the resolution. (From the Jerusalem Post)
In another interview Gillerman said:
"The French demonstrated excessive eagerness to understand terror while exhibiting utter insensitivity to the pain of (Israeli) terror victims," Gillerman said.

"If the French feel under attack then I think it would be a classic case depicted by the childhood phrase 'the thief's hat is on fire' (meaning the culprit's guilt is clear to all)."

"As I said over the pulpit, what a country like France would do if it were under rocket attacks? Would they be sending out flowers to those who launched the missiles? This (UN) resolution is like sending out flowers to terror, flowers that, God forbid, might be laid at the grave of another victim from Sderot."

"Anyone who saw the French ambassador leaning over the shoulder of the Palestinian envoy during my speech realizes this is more than a reasonable effort to try pass this resolution and to force other European countries to join in on the effort," Gillerman said.
YNet reported that Gillerman further showed is displeasure at the French's constant hostility toward Israel.
Following his speech, Gillerman walked past the French Ambassador without greeting him. The disregard was apparent even at lower echelons. Israeli diplomats have recently begun regarding France as a hostile force in the Security Council as well as the EU. “It (France) is truly and Arab extension,” one Israeli diplomatic source said.
European countries such as Germany, Holland, Denmark, and Britain intended on refraining from the vote at the general assembly, which would have lead to many other eastern European and South American countries refraining as well. French diplomats, working closely with the Palestinians, Lebanon, and Qatar, pressured those countries and advised them to soften the proposal in order to bridge the gap with the EU.
Bravo Mr. Gillerman, you showed some real leadership! Instead of some political gobbly-gook--- you got up and told the truth. You put France's hatred toward Israel out on the table where everyone could see it. And I love the line about the French ambassador leaning over the shoulder of the Palestinian envoy
Of course at the first display of backbone the Prime Minister objects. Instead of baking Gillerman up, showed his total lack of backbone by taking issue with Gillerman's actions. The JPost reported:

The Foreign Ministry was "taken aback" by Ambassador to the UN Dan Gillerman's sharp and public criticism of France for their role in getting EU nations to vote for Friday's General Assembly condemnation of Israel, sources in the ministry said Sunday.

"Nobody authorized him to touch off an open crisis with France," one ministry source said. "We didn't need that, we could have asked for explanations from the French in private, we don't need to fan the flames in public."

OH Boy, you would think that Gillerman did something horrible like offer a free weekend in Eilat to someone who's town was being showered with rockets (a particular pet peeve of the PM and his defense minister)

Through out our history, whenever the Jewish people needed a leadership, G-d sent us a leader. Maybe we should pray to Hashem that he take that action now. Moshe, the Judges, Judah Maccabbee, Ben Gurion, are just a few examples of the wonderful leaders we have had. Even Sharon, agree or disagree with his policies, but he was a leader.

Olmert on the other hand is a political hack who is desperately trying to keep his head above water, and he is clearly loosing that battle, he has no leadership qualities, cannot make the tough decisions, and does not have the confidence in himself to trust the people who can.

I urge my Israeli brothers and sisters to do whatever they can within the law to force new elections. It is time for Israel to once again have a leader.

Kofi Anonymous Upset Because We Won't Drink the Kool-Aide

Hmm, let's see - The UN is a worthless world organization that is perpetuating socialism and a pro-Arab agenda, they are worthless at stopping real genocide and atrocities in the world, but they are a 100% behind abortion for poor women and now Kofi is dissing anyone that doesn't buy into the Global Warming fairy tale.
U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan told the U.N. conference on climate change Wednesday that those who would deny global warming or delay taking action against it are "out of step" and "out of time."

"Let no one say we cannot afford to act," Annan declared, in a clear reference to those, such as the Bush administration, who contend that reducing global-warming gases would set back economies too much.

The U.N. chief lamented "a frightening lack of leadership" in fashioning next steps to reduce global emissions. "Let us start being more politically courageous," he urged the hundreds of delegates from some 180 member nations of the 1992 U.N. climate treaty.

Golly-Gee Mr Kofi since you and the Al Gore-bot are saying that Global Warming is real, then I must believe it! NOT!!! The Global Warming scare it a scam, and the scam's main goal is to cripple the economies of industrial nations, and that sound a lot like the goals of socialism to me. Not everyone is buying into the hype, and to the Kofi-nator if you aren't onboard with the Chicken Little scare you are big poop. Well Mr Kofi, I would rather be a big poop than a Flaming Moron!

Brave UN Hezbollah Re-arming Force in Lebanon

I'm sorry, call it post-election day decompression. I was watching Fox News - drifting more left - last night and caught a bit of a report on the peace-keeping forces in Lebanon.

Laughed so hard, I nearly cried, but not quite. Go UN, go!!!

The UN girls protecting and running interference for the Hezbollah boys in the latter's re-arming efforts are afraid to go out at night because it is too dangerous. Good grief!

Hezbollah is being re-armed and re-supplied by Syria and company. The UN is complicit, no surprise there. Besides getting their beauty sleep, the only thing the UN girls in their fashionable blue helmets are doing is making sure those bad, bad Israeli folks don't tell on the Hezbos as they re-arm. Like that would be a secret to anyone with two IQ points. But the Israel-haters in the UN, now joined by the newly forming government in the United States should have an easier go of it.

As you recall, the Secretary of State for the United States, Condi Rice, did point out that the mission of the UN girls was NOT to disarm the Hezzies.

Now with the coup-de-tat in the United States being complete and the flood of new citizens across our borders, that could lessen the concentration of terrorists in the Middle East. With the certain withdrawal of American military from the region at the direction of the new appeasement oriented Congress and Senate, under the hands of the Far Left who never met a white flag of surrender they didn't bow before, the terrorist-sponsoring nations should have better control of the UN.

The next token peace offering to the gods of Islamic Imperialism, at the behest of America's far Left, will be John Bolton. The UN will become stronger, will move to tax us individually for its support, and will move on our Second Amendment assisted by the American Far Left. Such a shame for freedom and liberty.

China and Russia support UNified lapdog-coalition to destroy America

Having just read Stan's three posts regarding nuclear proliferation in the Middle East and China's pursuit of her own "interests" within her region, I am reminded of the leaders from the 118 UN-aligned nations which met in Cuba as a run-up to the larger UN meetings in New York City. The UN has 192 nation-members.

The meeting, of course, is that meeting where Mad Jad and Hugo Ugo postured and called President Bush the devil. Hugo Ugo has to be wrong on several counts, most important of which is that the devil's greatest trick was in convincing the world that he doesn't exist. President Bush has certainly failed on that score. He exists; he takes hits from anyone and everyone who can put two words together.

But back to the UNified Coalition. Let's see: 192 UN member-nations versus 118 UN-aligned member-nations = those joined to kill us 118; with the exception of US, 73 nations that don't want to kill US or just get too much money from us to see it worth their while to hop on the UNified Coalition's train at the moment.

Talks make the rounds from time to time about forming a coalition of nations who support freedom and liberty. The talk is moot. The coalition exists de facto based on the alignment of the anti-American, dictator potentates of the UN-aligned nations.

There is no UN, on paper yes; funded primarily by our taxes, yes; keeping the world from plunging down the slope of no return into world war, NO. The UN, as Stan and others say, is defunct, dysfunctional/divorced by its actions from the founding documents, and inefficient.

The United States should withdraw its funding for the UN except for perhaps the "charitable" aspects and then only if our name stays on the goods we ship to desparate nations. Someone with the power to make substantive changes needs to take a look at the UN, the IMF, the World Bank, and any other international organization that we (US, Australia, UK, Japan, other nations that generally side with the United States) fund and either nail signs across the front saying "closed for business" or withdraw our support.

The UN clearly is subversive of the liberties we hold dear; the UN is an "in place", active threat to our nation, our way of life. The UN wants to tax American citizens directly; the UN wants to confiscate our guns; the UN inspects our jails/prisons - probably to ensure that the Islamists goals of recruitment are not diminished; the UN applauds when our President Bush is so incredibly attacked and, by extention, we are each insulted by these thugs.

Get the UN out of the United States, and except for a cursory role, get US OUT of the UN. Good posts, Stan.

One aside to China and Russia - watch out that the dogs you feed and the dogs you think you control don't turn on you. They will and with a vengeance. Their goal is "world domination". You think that lets you off the hook. Think again!

Should we, the US, continue on our path of support for this despicable group of "organized" thugs, history will be writ large that the demise of freedom and liberty began and ended with the sham United Nations. A clearer methodology to bring about our own destruction could not have been created by a novelist. We have supported these thugs; and they have worked one-step-at-a-time to gang up on us, using our money to pay for every step of the way.

And should we abandon the people of Iraq, look no further than to the hall, the conferences, of the UN. Through the UN, Western nations are being invaded around the world, nation-cultures are about to topple. And at the root, strings being pulled by manipulating "religionists"(so-called) within the UN, execute every "shot" that flies across our bow or that detonates the explosives around the waist of a maniacle bomber.

Am I saying that the UN aids and abets terrorists and terrorist controlling nation-states just by letting the potentates belong to the UN. The UN tramples its charter and spits in the face of freedom, applauding at every opportunity.

Godspeed and stay safe.

UN Inaction leads to Islamic Nuclear Arms Race

This is possibly the greatest potential threat to American and our allies' security, since Nazi Germany. And one more damn good reason to stop Iran dead in their tracks.

From the UK Times:
...six Arab states announced that they were embarking on programmes to master atomic technology.

The move, which follows the failure by the West to curb Iran’s controversial nuclear programme, could see a rapid spread of nuclear reactors in one of the world’s most unstable regions, stretching from the Gulf to the Levant and into North Africa.

The countries involved were named by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Saudi Arabia. Tunisia and the UAE have also shown interest.

All want to build civilian nuclear energy programmes, as they are permitted to under international law. But the sudden rush to nuclear power has raised suspicions that the real intention is to acquire nuclear technology which could be used for the first Arab atomic bomb.
The ineffectiveness of the UN is to blame for this, where Russia, China, and to a lesser extent Europe contributed to the lack of will to enforce resolutions. Why is it all of the sudden that the Arab world desires nuclear programs? Iran and perhaps North Korea. Inaction has consequences, which sadly, the world tends to forget very quickly.
The announcement by the six nations is a stunning reversal of policy in the Arab world, which had until recently been pressing for a nuclear free Middle East, where only Israel has nuclear weapons.
Inaction in action.
