The UN threatens our homes

An International Treaty is a threat to your family even if the UN can't directly reach into your living room. 192 nations have adopted something called the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. If our the US congress ratifies this abomination, it will become the "Supreme Law of the Land." Treaties do that. No this is not the twilight zone and unfortunately it's not new.

This nonsense has been bandied about by intellectuals and globalists since at least the late 1980s. The treaty itself does away with parental rights by giving children civil, economic and social rights on an individual level. Parents who failed "respect" these could be subject to whatever reporting, referrals and disciplinary measures the UN seems to think is appropriate. The Clinton Administration brought this treaty to us, and it was not ratified because some senators wisely saw it for what it was and refused to do so, stating it would undermine parental rights.

So, if the senate doesn't ratify it then it is over, right? No. I would hope that the congress would feel the heat enough not to do such a thing, but this does not mean that our families are safe from this nefarious influence. The US court system has been making decisions based on "customary international law." This practice occurs when there is no case law or clear interpretation of the constitution (or more accurately, wingnuts from the legal fringe don't like how the former will affect their case) and they look to international case law and treaties to interpret the US constitution. It sounds totally absurd, but it is still dangerous because it's still being done.

"In the 2004 case Roper v. Simmons, a majority on the U.S. Supreme Court noted that the execution of juvenile offenders violated several international treaties, including the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, and stated that the overwhelming weight of international opinion against the juvenile death penalty provides confirmation for the court's own conclusion that the death penalty is disproportional punishment for offenders younger than 18.

Additionally, a change in the makeup of the Senate could result in the ratification of the treaty. The consequences of these actions could be devastating for the American family because it would mean that any state law relating to education, the family, adoption and dozens of other issues could be nullified by a judge."

How would this affect your family? In Belgium a couple has been accused of neglect for schooling their child at home. They didn't sign the papers which promised to abide by the UN Convention. If the courts convict this couple, a like minded lawyer or judge in a case in the US could make a similar ruling citing the dubious "international law" arguement. And this is just if the Convention is not ratified here.
